A SPOKESPERSON THERE TOLD US THEY WERE NOT PART OF ANY DISCUSSIONS. A SECOND RUMOR CLAIMED THE STADIUM WOULD GO ON THE FORMER SPRINT CAMPUS AT 119TH AND NOLAN OVERLAND PARK. Fortune 500 company expected to bring 2,000 jobs to Overland Park, Kansas, with new location
A global financial technology company is setting up shop in Overland Park, Kansas, creating a new strategic hub that will generate thousands of jobs. Fiserv is a Fortune 500 company that works with clients on digital banking and e-commerce. The company, along with Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly, confirmed its move to the Aspiria campus in Overland Park. The company selected Aspiria at 6500 and 6550 Sprint Parkway as the site for its newest hub for several reasons, including its central location, proximity to Midwest clients, affordability and opportunity to attract talent. The space also offers 427,000 square feet across its two buildings. "The greater Kansas City Metro area offers a dynamic environment with a growing population of tech talent, making it the ideal location for Fiserv's next strategic fintech hub," said Frank Bisignano, Fiserv chairman and CEO, in a news release. "Working with local and state leaders, we are committed to driving growth and prosperity for both Fiserv and Kansas while contributing to the vibrancy of the Overland Park community." Fiserv already has a network of hubs around the country. Kelly expressed appreciation of the new jobs that will be possible with the new facility. "When I took office in 2019, my administration promised to modernize and diversify the Kansas economy in order to build long-term resilience," she said in a news release. "Fiserv's new strategic hub in Overland Park is a significant step forward as we continue to elevate Kansas to new heights. Fiserv will create high-value career options including opportunities for military personnel transitioning to civilian life and graduates of our higher education system." Just last month, some rumors circulated that Aspiria could be a contender for a new Royals stadium. The real estate and management company in charge of Aspiria quickly shut it down. Aspiria was formerly the Sprint World Headquarters.
